Cold Case: Detective shares insight on Jeramy Burt; missing since February of 2007
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — Jeramy Burt left home at 10:30 at night to visit a friend back on Feb. 11, 2007.
He never made it home. The contractor and loving father vanished.
"After he went missing there were some text messages sent from his phone to his ex wife while she was in Las Vegas. Those messages didn't really sound like him -- they were a little cryptic a little odd so that caused some concern," said Boise Police Detective Josiah Ransom.
That's when Burt was reported as a missing person.
Three months later, Burt's car was found burned out, in the middle of nowhere, in the Owyhee Desert hidden in a ravine.
"Clearly, in my opinion, the intention was to hide it and destroy evidence," said Ransom. "It (the car) made it down there there obviously had to be somebody else there to help get whoever drove it down there out."
Ransom said when they tried to go down in a four wheel drive vehicle, they had to walk the last couple hundred yards because it would've wrecked the truck they were in.
Burt is presumed dead. Is the motive for his murder rooted in his personal or professional life?
"I think a combination of both," Ransom said. "We definitely have persons of interest in the case we're not willing to name them. There is a lot of supposition on different websites about who is tied in at this point. I wouldn't name a person of interest but I do believe there are at least two people involved in his disappearance of Mr. Burt."
After police shaking the bushes on Jeramy's case for years, little has fallen off. Police hope someone close to the case will share their secret.
"I absolutely believe there are people out there that know exactly what happened to Jeramy, and where exactly Jeramy is. I would love for them to come forward and tell me. It's been eleven years and they haven't done it, but hopefully someday their conscience will get the best of them and they'll come out and tell us."
