Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: To miss multiple weeks
Rotowire Jul 20, 2024
An MRI on Saturday revealed Bichette's right calf strain to be moderate, and he'll miss multiple weeks due to the injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bichette strained his calf Friday for the second time this month and was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Saturday. Further testing revealed the injury will require a multi-week absence, keeping the star shortstop sidelined into August. In his stead, Leo Jimenez should handle most of the shortstop work, though Addison Barger and Ernie Clement could mix in at the position.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Lands on injured list
Rotowire Jul 20, 2024
The Blue Jays placed Bichette on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right calf strain, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bichette didn't land on the injured list immediately after straining his calf July 10, but after suffering a recurrence of the injury just nine days later, he'll now hit the IL in order to properly recover. Addison Barger was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move, though it will be Leo Jimenez starting most days at shortstop while Bichette is sidelined.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Removed with apparent injury
Rotowire Jul 20, 2024
Bichette was removed from Friday's game versus Detroit with an apparent leg injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bichette was hopping to first base as he lined out to right field during the sixth inning, and he was reluctant to put any weight on his right leg. The 26-year-old shortstop missed the final four games of the first half due to a strained right calf, and the Blue Jays' trainers will take a look at him to determine if his latest injury is related.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Absent from Saturday's lineup
Rotowire Jul 20, 2024
Bichette (calf) isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.
Bichette left Friday's contest early after straining his right calf for the second time this month, and he's slated to undergo an MRI to determine whether his injury is severe enough to warrant a trip to the injured list. Leo Jimenez will start at shortstop instead Saturday and would likely continue to do so should Bichette end up on the IL.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Suffers calf strain
Rotowire Jul 20, 2024
Bichette left Friday's game against the Tigers due to a right calf strain.
Bichette wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg after lining out to right field in the sixth inning, and he's now officially been diagnosed with a strained right calf -- the same injury that caused him to miss the last four games before the All-Star break. The Blue Jays didn't place him on the IL after his initial strain, but there's a good chance he spends some time on the injured list this time around in order to properly address the issue. Leo Jimenez will presumably take over as Toronto's starting shortstop while Bichette recovers.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Back in Toronto lineup Friday
Rotowire Jul 19, 2024
Bichette (calf) will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Friday's game against the Tigers.
Bichette missed the final four games of the first half with a strained right calf, but the additional rest over the All-Star break appears to have been enough to get him healthy. The shortstop will carry a disappointing .596 OPS into the second half.
